Customer ratings and reviews for HP Split 13t-m100 x2 PC

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Product Enjoying my new HP Split. Works great! April 19, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst Laptop Ever Owned I purchased this computer at Christmas with the intention of using it for law school. I had a desktop replacement laptop with better specs, but I wanted something middle of the road that had more portability since I needed to drag it around campus. Almost from day one the computer gave me issues. RAM usage was at 80%+ at start up and as soon as even the most basic programs were opened (Skype or Google Chrome) it jumped to 90-100% RAM usage and started throwing up errors telling me to close programs. I tried repeatedly to get the issue resolved, but after four months of frustration I sold the laptop. The computer was a decent computer when it worked, but the lack of reliability outweighed the features. April 18, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by slim and lightweight Works well but some applications do not like the touch screen or tablet only. Must have it docked to use these with a keyboard. Other than that it is a great computer so far. Great battery life. April 9, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Baby Step I initially purchased 6 of these units for my company as we needed a laptop/tablet capable of running the full version of a Windows OS, as opposed to the RT version. I chose the Split X2 because at the time I found it to be superior over other available options and because it was cost effective. After several months of using the device I must say that it is at best a baby step into the world of tablets and at worst the device is a turkey. The screen sensitivity of each of the 6 units I purchased is a bit different; on 4 of the units I can use my finger to close out a full sized window, on 2 of the units the edge of the screen is unresponsive to some touch commands. More frustrating is that the device I use constantly "wigs out". Throughout the day the screen routinely zooms in and behaves as though I am touching it; which would be well and good except that it does this while I am typing. How do I know it thinks I am touching it; HP put in a wonderful blue dot that appears any time you touch the screen and then remove your finger, a nice little sort of tracer. I have watched these flutter across my screen, completely distorting the window I had open at the time. I was more a fan of this device when I first purchased it. I love the battery life, and still do as I get 10+ hours between the battery in the screen and in the keyboard dock, the screen size and resolution, and the touchscreen input. However the longer I use this device the less satisfied and more inconvenienced I am. The Split X2 had just come on the market when I purchased it and the reviews were largely positive, I wonder if those reviewers had more than an hour with the device. My recommendation: buy a standard laptop. The touch screen features of this devices are largely unnecessary for the average user, though thanks to Windows 8 (which I think is also a turkey when it comes to the business world) this will be changing; the solution to that: buy a copy of Windows 7 and install it on your device. Sorry HP, if I gave the Split X2 a thumbs up I'd have to sanction myself. February 21, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Gift for College Son I bought the HP Split 13t-m100 x2 PC for my college-age son. His old computer had seen better days, and he really liked this one when he tried a demo. I cannot count the number of times he has said "I love my computer." I bought it with upgraded RAM and he is able to play games and do his homework and research on it. As a pharmacy student, he is heavily into biology and chemistry classes this year. Even his teachers are envious of his new computer. While I thought that moving from a 16" monitor to a 13" monitor would be a downgrade, that has not been the case. even with the "smaller" size, the picture is clearer and has great detail. He loves his new computer January 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best of both worlds! Before I even begin to write this review, I please understand that I am a very seasoned user of electronics. I have been using tablets since day one, and I know the difference between premium and low quality products. This leads me to the following statement - this is an awesome product. The resolution is up to par, and it is very bright. This hybrid can be used in settings with a lot of light, if you want to use it outdoors in the sun, you might want to get an anti-glare screen protector, or sit under a tree! It is very responsive and accurate, doesn't smudge unless you're eating greasy foods. I have yet to scratch it, and I am guessing it is very scratch resistant. The back portion of the tablet and the bottom of the keyboard/docking station appear to be made of brushed metal. The volume and power buttons are located and easy to use. Feel very premium. While the tablet is docked, it will wobble slightly, but only if you shake it beyond the means in which ANY laptop should be. It absolutely will not fall off if docked correctly. Battery life is great. I have to commute to my university, and do not have the luxury of driving home between classes. Between the two batteries, I get over ten hours of battery life when the screen is set on the brightest setting and WiFi is on. The keyboard's battery will deplete entirely before it starts to use the tablet's, meaning you have the option to break off as a tablet until the very last drop. While it may come with a mere 128gb of built in storage, there is an SD slot and a USB port on the docking station, and a MicroSD slot on the tablet. For less than $100, you can easily add about an extra 200gb. Even with 128gb, that is sufficient space to install a ton of applications and legacy programs, with room left over for thousands of songs, and even a dozen movies and a few seasons of our favorite show. If this is going to be your primary computer, you might consider getting an external hard drive to store the majority of your space-taking files that you don't need when you're out and about. As far as the speed goes, the i3 processor and 4GB of RAM is more than enough to suit most everyday needs. It can handle desktop games that are not very graphic intense, but do not expect to more intense games without some choppiness. Very quick to open and switch between apps. The keyboard is quiet when typing, so I don't bug other students during lecture, or when I am in the library. If you disagree, there are a multitude of covers on Amazon for less than $10. The only complain that I have with it is that there is no button that turns the Bluetooth off, which you need to go in to the settings menu to tweak. Other than that, it's great. If you need to look at the keys when you type, I'd recommend getting a glow-in-the-dark cover for your keyboard, or use it with the lights on. Speakers can get loud. Louder than any tablet that I have ever used. They sound crisp, and I can't imagine anything better being on tablet. The Beats Audio software is actually more useful than you'd think. It makes the best out of the speakers or headphones you have on hand, and really does bring your music and other audio to life. All-in-all, this is a great produce. I used to own an Asus VivoTab RT, which is an 11" windows hybrid like this, and it was way too tiny. There is twice as much real estate to work with by adding the extra two inches. It is not too big, and not too small. The perfect size, in my opinion. If you are uncertain, you'll never know until you try. You can go to BestBuy and play with their display model, and see if you like it, or if you're feeling ambitious you can just jump feet-first and buy it off the site. You'll be satisfied, I know it.
