This is an OK computer except for a couple of issues. #1) Occasionally, for some unknown and apparently unknowable reason, this thing will slow waaaaaaaaaaaay down, to the point that showing a video or signing in to Win 8.1 with a visual password is an exercise in futility. I have sent it back twice, and they have NOT been able to figure it out, finally blaming it on Win 8.1. If you wait, it will catch up, but there is not much telling how long that will be. #2) Upon closing the device, the fan shuts down briefly and then, after a pause, the fan starts back up again. If it is in its case, more than likely when you take it out the battery will be dead as a doornail. I have resorted to waiting for it to start back up and holding the power button for the required 8 seconds to get the whole thing to shut off.
Other than that, it's perfectly peachy!

I was very disappointed in this computer by HP. I have had nothing but problems with it and wish that I had never bought it. I wish that I could return the computer and purchase another HP but Best Buy won't let me return it so I am stuck with the Split.

I brought this 2pc Iron Gizmo because I was impressed with my 8" tablet and thought an upgrade to a "Big Screen HP" was the way to go. I also own a 17" HP Pavilion 1150us laptop.
I was very impressed with the size and "Inspector Gadget" stealth appearance and the dual features of being a tabletl/laptop while window shopping online at the HP store.
Finally I came to the conclusion based on price, preference (HP products), at the time there was no other 2pc combo laptop I could find, so I put my order in and made the purchase.
Finally..., it arrives, I'm excited, and its actually my Christmas gift to me. I let it get a full charge. While charging i read the the mini manuals and all other information.
Once its charged I immediately separate the keyboard from the tablet/screen. Right away I discover it is very heavy and have to frequently place it on the table, adjust my hold position, and take a break.
Problem 2 for me was to use the touchscreen keyboard was very awkward and difficult because I had to hold it in the widescreen position or I probably would have carpal tunnel the next day (heavy).
Problem 3: It is very slow but that could be because I also own a HP Pavilion 1150us 2.4ghz.
Problem 4: Going from tablet to keyboard is a weird experience because I often touch the screen when its not on the touch screen mode.
Problem 5: It sounds like a "Hot Rod" because of the continuous running fan or whatever is inside of it running. Im not sure if has a fan or not.
Problem 6: The touch screen capabilities is similar to playing with a toy or using sign language. There are too many touch moves you have to do to get to where you going.
Problem 7: There are no apps for my world but it does have a convenient bookmark location.
Problem 8: I am not motivated to use it and it in the leather sleeve I brought to go with in the drawer and has been in there since February. I make plans to fire it up and then change my mind.
Problem 9: It was sent out the factory late and I think it was made in China. I did receive $25.00 in savings and it arrived before Christmas, Thanks!
After reading the problems above you probably think I want my money back and i writing this review to encourage you not to buy one. Honestly, I'm not trying to say anything negative about this product and I really like the features I bought it for size, stealth, and the "Inspector Gadget" technology. I just think it will take me more time to get use to the transformation from Windows 7 to Windows 8, the weight, awkwardness, touch screen, etc.

I purchased this computer at Christmas with the intention of using it for law school. I had a desktop replacement laptop with better specs, but I wanted something middle of the road that had more portability since I needed to drag it around campus. Almost from day one the computer gave me issues. RAM usage was at 80%+ at start up and as soon as even the most basic programs were opened (Skype or Google Chrome) it jumped to 90-100% RAM usage and started throwing up errors telling me to close programs. I tried repeatedly to get the issue resolved, but after four months of frustration I sold the laptop. The computer was a decent computer when it worked, but the lack of reliability outweighed the features.

Works well but some applications do not like the touch screen or tablet only. Must have it docked to use these with a keyboard. Other than that it is a great computer so far. Great battery life.
