Customer ratings and reviews for HP Pavilion - 17z Laptop

Rated 4 out of 5 by very satisfied I've had this Pavillion 17 laptop a few months now. This is probably about the 8th laptop that has entered my hosehold, but my first Pavilion. The only negatives I've seen so far is that HP really cheapin'-up and no longer supplies a SINGLE Windows system recover CD... so I had to take the TIME! and make my own set using SEVERAL of my own blank CDs. Also, there's a longer, round-about-way to get into the BIOS with Windows 8.1, but not a biggy if you can follow a few simple steps. Set-up was a little lengthy with their start-up program, but I did not encounter any problems along the way. Connecting to my wireless network was a breeze. BTW...my wife just bought the Pavilion 15. Rated 1 out of 5 by Don't buy it! Bought it ignoring other reviews. Applied tweaks to windows settings advised by other users. Still had to use a "computer fixer" program. HP should ship this ready to run with windows set to use Quad processers. Delays when typing. Best experience with computer: spilled a cup of coffee on it and fried the whole thing. July 18, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Love 17" keyboards Nice laptop and all. Have to get used to Windows8. Would have given 5 stars except for the USB ports. The two are too close together for some of mine. Now I have to buy an add-on! July 16, 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 by Getting ready was an extremely slow process. It took so long to set up. July 16, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This computer is excellent. This computer is excellent. It has all the features that I wanted and it seems to be a lot more durable than my old HP computer which was an ENVY. I also love the color, aqua blue. Hopefully, it will last a good while. July 16, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by UPDATED REVEIW Okay I had commented that the screen resolution at 1600/900 was fair to poor BUT that was based on the loaded wallpapers and screen savers that came with the PC. If you download wallpapers that are in HD the picture on the 1600/900 resolution is actually very similar to 1080 resolution. The performance is good though it can be stalled, like when I click on documents I may have to click it one or two more times before it comes on, and that's only sometimes. I still love the snow white color! July 14, 2014
