Customer ratings and reviews for HP ENVY 17t-j100 Quad Edition Notebook PC

Rated 5 out of 5 by Fantastic laptop. The speed of this laptop is incredible. The screen is very large and the display is clean and crisp. This is my first time using windows 8 which definitely has a learning curve, but so far i have no problems with it. The overall look of the laptop is pretty slick. Bluetooth capability would have been nice, but I'm not complaining. I recommend this computer to anyone. March 10, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing! I customized this HP Envy with what I wanted and am extremely happy with it. The screen is gorgeous but a little heavy with the touch screen (I have a cooling pad that tilts slightly but without it the laptop tips over easily when its opened at more than 90 degrees - watch out if you have kids!). Windows 8.1 is not nearly as bad as I have read - I consider myself moderately computer literate and was able to navigate easily within a couple of days and now, a week later, have pretty much mastered all of its necessary functions. The i7 processor (8gb ram) is very fast and responsive. I opted for the updated graphics card and have played a couple of games (skyrim, assassin's creed brotherhood) on high settings without any issues. Not really much else to say - everything works the way it's supposed to. The touch screen is fun but probably not a necessity in a laptop - If I were to start over now I probably would have skipped this and just gone with the non touch version of the laptop. One extra thing to note: the computer has both the nvidia graphics card AND the intel hd 4600 card. I have done some reading and apparently its an energy saving feature - the nvidia card will only run when high graphics programs are used. this is kind of nice but when looking at performance settings particularly with games, sometimes it will tell you that you don't meet requirements or that you need to run on low settings even though this is not the case. So far skyrim is the only game i've installed that detected the accurate card and pre-set at "ultra high settings" the others have all set at very low settings. Hope this helps! March 9, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great buy I bought this computer just over a month ago , it took 3 weeks to ship to me. They had the shipment date perfect. The shipping took less time than they said. After opening the box and turning on the computer , I was in love from the very first moment. The computer has everything I wanted. ( Built to my specs ) March 8, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Product meets my expectations. This product meets my expectations based upon my individual computing needs and intended use(s). This is an upgrade from a ten (10) year old IBM Thinkpad R51 running with Windows XP Service Pack 3. Decision to move to this product running under Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit was made due to incompatibility of drivers and other software when considering upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7 (or later). I now have a platform which will see and meet my current needs for the future. March 6, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect laptop for me! This was an upgrade from an older HP Pavilion (probably 4 years old). I LOVE the non-glare 17" display (can BARELY get a reflection in direct, bright light) and that it's very light and thin! It boots up quickly and I can even run the Adobe Suite on it! I contemplated the touch screen but the glare and fingerprints would drive me crazy (plus I don't sit close enough to my screen that having a touch screen would give me much benefit). I can use this as my primary computer because it has all the speed and memory I need to run my fave programs and the screen is a good size! My husband recommended this one (he's worked with computers for 17 years) so I felt good about selecting this one. I feel like this was a really great purchase and easily worth the price! Rated 2 out of 5 by Be Warned Before you buy this or any other HP laptop, make sure to go to a store and use the touchpad extensively. I have had this computer for one day, and I already have a blister on my thumb. The right and left click are virtually impossible to click, and once you do, they are even harder to keep them pressed. Why they went away from the separate buttons like they had in the past is beyond me. If you use your laptop on a surface other than a hard desk, or unless you use an external mouse (why you would make a laptop that cannot be used on a lap and needs a mouse is beyond me... you should have bought a desktop in that case), do not by this laptop. The slightest bit of give on your laptop will not allow you to apply the massive amount of pressure that is needed to keep the left click deployed. IT is SO ANNOYING, and painful. Sometimes I just wonder why huge manufacturers like this can actually allow such a product to leave their doors. Returning it today and unfortunately, most HPs seem to have this horrible touchpad, so I may have to go with another company for the first time in 10 years. February 23, 2014
