Customer ratings and reviews for HP USB 3.0 3005pr Port Replicator

Rated 1 out of 5 by really expensive usb hub I spent 3 days trying to get the USB 3.0 Docking Station to work for the additional display. I made a call to the manufacturer and they said that it is not compatible with any machine that has dual video display adapters. My machine has Intel 4000 and the Nvidia 650m video display adapters. I called Tech Support and worked with them for quite some time before I asked for a manager. The manager told me it was not going to work for the same reason as the maker of the product. You can get a USB 3.0 hub for less than $40.00. April 24, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not Worth the Money Costs as much as a docking station. But key functionality is just plain not there. 1. No standard monitor port. That still has to be plugged in separately. 2. Replicator is powered, but it doesn't power the laptop (& at 90 watts power, it's insufficient to keep the laptop from complaining about needing a 120 watt power cord, anyway). As a result, it ties up 2 expensive HP power cords & 2 receptacles in the surge protector. 3. On initial configuration, only the USB attached mouse & keyboard worked. The speakers weren't recognized. Maybe when my schedule lightens up I'll find a remedy for this, but is sure leaves a sour taste for an expensive product. USB 3.0 might work as advertised, but I don't have any USB 3.0 attachments. I bought this unit as the closest available product to a docking station for a dt6 Envy. I've enjoyed a docking station for the last 7 years of HP laptops. If you have an Envy dt6 & are looking for a docking station, HP doesn't appear to have one. Don't waste money on this product. March 23, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Good but incomplete The port replicator works fine for every attachment I have but the monitor. HP customer service determined that the problem must be a bad port on the replicator and sent me a new one. That doesn't work either, nor does different cable configurations, so my monitor stays attached to my new laptop. February 18, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Doesn't work very well Initially, I had a monitor (HDMI), network connection, keyboard, and mouse plugged into the port replicator and it did did not work very well for me, especially the mouse and keyboard. There was a lot of delay with the mouse and somethimes the keyboard would not work right. The laptop (HP) was unusable in this condition. I now have the keyboard and mouse plugged in diretly to the laptop along with the port replicator and it seems to work now. I don't know if the problem is with the port replicator or with the laptop. Both are brand new. I am not sure I would recommend the port replicator since it doesn't work the way I expected it to work. February 12, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by All HP equipment and won't work I'm on my second one with an HP laptop, HP monitor and this port replicator. Detects then undetects the external monitor again and again but won't ever display it. I've tried hooking the monitor up directly and it works fine. Could be Windows 8 since HP doesn't ship Windows 8 compatible software for this (but will sell it with Windows 8 laptops) but I did download the Windows 8 version from the manufacturer (DisplayLink) and it still doesn't work. Rated 5 out of 5 by It was surprisingly great I've had bad experiences with port replicators before, so I was pretty skeptical about this, but it was my only good option. Well, I was pleasantly surprised to see just how well this device worked. The video, in particular, is great. No issues at all, and you can dock and undock at will. Audio and USB worked just perfectly. One thing to be careful of is the power saver on your laptop. When mine kicked in, it powered down the USB ports and disconnected my keyboard, so it was hard to get out of power saver mode. I had to change the settings to not power off the monitor, and that seems to keep the port replicator alive. If you're like me and are weary of these types of devices, don't sweat this one. It worked great. January 2, 2013
