Customer ratings and reviews for 8 Cell Battery 4.4Hr

Rated 5 out of 5 by Nothing wrong with it I bought a second battery as I am often at client sites and need the time 2 batteries will give me. The original battery (18 mos old) is starting to show some signs of reduced life. The backup (1 year old) still gives me 2-3 hours. I make it a point to unplug my machine and cycle the batteries a couple of time a week. There is no faster way to kill a battery than to leave it plugged "for 99.5% of the time" as some of the reviewers admit doing. I learned that lesson on previous machines. There's nothing wrong with either of batteries I have - I am very satisfied. I think the problem with the other reviews is user error. BTW - you should expect to replace the battery every 18 months - shorter if you abuse it by leaving it plugged in. I've been using laptops exclusively since 1995 and I have never had a battery that didn't completely die within 2 years. That's just how they work. Cycle the battery all the way to 0 at least once a week. That will give you the maximum life from it. These are no worse than any other battery. November 26, 2008
Rated 2 out of 5 by Replacement Battery Allows for about 2 hours of run time. Probably good for this product, but I really was looking for something that would run my lqptop longer. November 26, 2008
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good job i love this battery happy with the notebook it lasts me upto 2.5 hours November 22, 2008
Rated 1 out of 5 by Singing the Same Song I guess i'm singing the same song that ever other reviewer has written about this product. I bought this HP right before i started school two years ago, and at the start of the second semester I was not able to go 30 minutes without the battery dying on me. It is extremely inconvenient to have to tote the computer and charger around with me everywhere I go and I know even regret buying this computer in the first place. 17 inches is extremely too big of a computer to be toting around with you everywhere. This will have been the last HP product that I buy. Extremely disappointed. November 19, 2008
Rated 1 out of 5 by battery life It appears that I feel the same as most of the other reviews. This will be my last HP laptop. The first laptop was plugged in all the time after only 6 months of use, then the battery died. I thought it was the fact that I got a bad battery. Now this DV9000 battery is less than 1 year old and is also going bad. I had heard that if you keep the laptop plugged in that it will destroy the battery, so I didn't plug in this laptop as often, but it still went bad. What good is having a laptop that stays plugged in to the AC adapter all the time? I purchased a laptop for the mobility and didn't want to be tied to a desk top all the time. Big mistake this was, very disappointing :( I should have saved my money and got the desk top. November 18, 2008
Rated 1 out of 5 by NO LIE!! I started this review with 92% battery life... of course my computer is plugged into a/c power to operate, but for this review I have unplugged at the 92% level. As I wrap this up and prepare to finish by pressing on the "Preview" button, I have only 62% remaining... That a 30% battery reduction in less than 2 minutes... Thank God for A/C Power.
