Customer ratings and reviews for 8 Cell Battery 4.4Hr

Rated 1 out of 5 by The worst batery ever This battery won't last 20 minutes. I agree with all previous reviews, it is a waste of money. September 3, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by dv9000 battery So far it is still working. 2 weeks old August 12, 2011
Rated 3 out of 5 by Does not last My battery maybe lasted one year. I unplug now to use and it only last maybe 20 minutes if that and it is done. I would think it would last at least two years or more. Have to recommend if you have this type of laptop. May 21, 2011
Rated 1 out of 5 Dont waste your $ I have had the worst experience with these batteries ever! After the original factory battery died (after 1.5 years) I purchased this replacement battery. After 10 months the new one has died as well. Now I am not sure if I want to invest in another at $125 for 10-18 months of service or just get a new brand of laptop. I never had the batteries blow out so quickly with any other brand of laptop I have purchased in the past. May 6, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Battery I have been using this in my dv9500 laptop for about 3 years 10 months. The battery's life reports as 48%. This will easily power my computer on power save for two hours still. While there are many bad reviews, these people leave their computers plugged in all of the time. I will leave the computer unplugged until it reaches around 15%, then plug the laptop back in. Once it reaches 100%, unplug it. This will save you the hassle of having to replace the battery. Rated 4 out of 5 by Three plus years I've had my DV9700 a little over 3 years. I use it as a desktop replacement 90% of the time. This laptop is used every day while plugged into A/C for at least an hour. When NOT being used as a portable, it is left in hibernate mode and is plugged into A/C 100% of the time. The other 10% is on portable battery power. About 2 years into its use, I noticed that the original battery operating time had dropped (power setting set to POWER SAVER) to about 50 minutes from its original 2 hour plus operating time. This two year usage was strictly Internet browsing with no CD/DVD usage. After reading the battery reviews here, I decided to experiment with the original battery and battery charge. I changed the power setting to HIGH PERFORMANCE and starting with a 100% charge, left the laptop on (NO external power) until it it shut off itself due to low battery. I then plugged it in and recharged it to 100%. I repeated this cycle 3 times in succession. By the way, this is NOT recommended for Lithium-Ion batteries as it is stated (in several battery articles) that they do NOT develop a memory effect. Leaving the power setting on high performance, I then used the laptop, again for Internet browsing. I was surprised to find the user time had increased to just under 2 hours. I have now been using the original battery for an ADDITIONAL 14 months (in exactly the same usage patterns as before) except that it is now used exclusively in the high performance mode. The original battery operating time is now down to 1 hour 40 minutes. Go figure. Just an FYI for those of you concerned about the DV9000 battery cost, I suggest that you may want to subscribe to the HP newsletter, and review the DV9000 battery (AG08) info periodically, wink, wink.
